Assigments to the movie Maleficent

Hello!


We have watched the movie Maleficent and now you are going to do two assignments connected to it. First you will have a discussion in smaller groups about the questions below. Then you will write an essay (a text) during two lessons about the same questions. You cannot work at home at all!


Discussion in the Fairytale theme


What to think of when having a discussion in English:
1. Statement = What do you think?
2. Argument = Why do you think like that? Give reasons and explain. 
3. Consequenses = What consequences can you see? For youself? For others? For the world? For the future? 


Questions to discuss
1.  In the movie, Maleficent was a good-hearted person to begin with. What made her turn bad? Was she really bad? Can you think of an example in real life of why a good person might do a bad thing because they were hurt or offended?


2. What could Maleficent have done instead of seek vengeance when she was hurt by her friend? How do vengeful feelings and actions hurt the person seeking revenge as well as those they are angry with? Can seeking revenge ever be right or good?


3. Who is the villain in this story and who is the hero?



4. How does the movie Maleficent compare with Sleeping Beauty? How are the two movies similar and different?
